Cut through wood flooring with a circular saw set to cut as deeply as the flooring thickness typically 3 4 inch to.

The problem is that i have a gap for expansion that is near to entry door. How do you shorten a door that is dragging on freshly installed carpet. I want to hide this gap as this looks ugly see image attached. Note this is entry way door.

Please suggest how i can hide this gap. Cutting off the door without raising the threshold may result in an improper seal. Rip up carpeting or slice through vinyl or linoleum with a utility knife. Any information will be really helpful.

If you decide to cut off an exterior door make sure you have a plan for sealing the bottom of the door against the threshold when the door is closed. If the door is not clearing interior flooring the better fix is often to raise the entire door jamb and threshold. I am installing vinyl plank flooring.
